The Taj Mahal is also called the Monument of Love. It is located in Agra (Uttar Pradesh, India) and is an important historical building. Taj was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is situated on the bank of the river Yamuna.
It took twenty thousand workmen twenty-two years to complete the miracle. The Taj is made of white marble. Last Sunday, the students of my class decide to visit the Taj. Each of us contributed ten rupees. We purchased fruits and sweets and went to see the great monument.
We saw four imposing minarets and a big dome in the center. Then we entered to see the tombs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. In front of their tombs there is a park, raving beautiful fountains and flowers. I was very curious to know more about the Taj Mahal.
Luckily, I met an old man who told me that on a full moon night the Taj looks very magnificent. He also told me that the crimson rays of the setting sun make this building look wonderful.
We decide to see the Taj Mahal in the evening. We spread a carpet under a tree and sat to eat our food. After a short rest, we saw the sun setting. How beautiful the Taj looked. Its beauty tugged at our hearts. People are absolutely justified to consider it as one of the Seven Wonder of the World.
It was growing dark. So we packed our things hurriedly and returned home. It was my first visit to a historical building. It was highly rewarding, happy day for me
