We all remember the story of 4 sons and a father, which gives the best example of golden proverb ‘Unity is Strength.’ It is an evergreen proverb that stands right in every situation in the past or present.
It has a straightforward meaning. It implies that we will always be strengthened when we are united. It can be remembered as an old saying ‘United we stand, divided we fall. It only means that if we are not together, we will be weakened.
However, it isn’t easy to stay united in today’s competitive world. Still, we have to understand that being united is the only key to win as we become dominant only when we are united. It stays in every situation and phase of life as when we fight with our society members or relatives or friends. We are left alone, which leads to many problems.
Concept of ‘Unity is Strength’ seems forgotten
In this competitive world, everyone has forgotten the phase ‘Unity is Strength.’ Even at the school level, students are being taught that ‘Unity is Strength,’ but at the same time, students are told to compete against each other, which develops a practice of competing in students. This habit grows in children as they grow. The effects of this habit are shown in the corporate world, even when people are given team projects. Also, this habit affects society as well as the family of people.
Importance of staying united:
It is essential for us to stay united as it helps us in improving our lives and helps to calm our minds. There is a story of a widow who kept on fighting with her neighbors and relatives every day. Slowly and gradually, everyone left her all alone, and one day she was diagnosed with a horrible brain disease, which was due to being alone. Also, there was no one to take care of her when she became weak after the illness. This story tells us how important it is to be united. It helps us in our well being as well as a better life.
If we look at the people who always work in a team, even with their family and friends, they are happier and healthier. Working and staying together is benefiting them in many ways. They are more efficient, and they work very fast with perfection just because of the coordination between the people.
On the other hand, if we look at the people who are alone or who cannot work with other people are less efficient in their work. They are usually sad and always blame their destiny for their miserable situation. Also, they do their work slowly and do not enjoy their lives, which leads to depression and other diseases. People nowadays feel insomnia because of being alone. These kinds of people are never interested in doing anything and are always stressed. They want to enjoy life but they can’t.
India’s Freedom Struggle is an apt example:
We all know and have studied that the British adopted the policy of ‘Divide and Rule’ in which they were successful. They ruled over India just by dividing the Indians, which made them more powerful.
But when the Indians came together for overruling the British, they faced many challenges because Indians were not willing to be united, which ended in the exploitation of India. As it is always said that it requires an army of thousands to fight with unity and fight battles, the leaders came together and somehow made Indians united; they became powerful and won the British.
Conclusion:
Unity is Strength is a proverb which helps us in every phase of our lives. It merely means that we will be strengthened when we are together, and if we are not together, we will be weakened. Being united is challenging, yet it is the only key to win every situation in our lives. If we do not stay united, it will give rise t many problems.
This concept is forgotten nowadays, as the children are taught to compete in school, which becomes their habit. This habit grows by time, and it is reflected in the team projects in the corporate world as well as in the societies.
It is essential to stay united as it helps us to calm our body and mind and improve our lives. We can learn from the story of a widow that if we do not stay united, we will end up alone and helpless like her. People who are united are happier, healthier, and are more efficient. On the other hand, people who stay alone are usually sad and helpless. They are miserable and depressed.
The example of India’s struggle teaches us that the British were successful in the ruling because they adopted the policy of ‘Divide and Rule.’ Indians were exploited by the British because the Indians were divided. But when the Indians came together and fought against the British, they defeated the British as the Indians were united.
Hence, we all should understand the importance of unity and always try to be united.
