Tourism
It means to travel in search of pleasure or for business work. Also we can say that it a feature for accommodating, business of attracting and entertaining tourists.
Tourism can be state level, country or international level. The World Trade Organization also known as WTO promotes tourism in every country by motivating people to see the historic buildings, upcoming technologies of other countries, architecture of various monument.
Tourism is the important part of a country’s economy as more tourism for a country means more investment by people in some country.
Tourism in India
In India tourism is important economically and it is growing quickly. World Tourism council has calculated that India has generated around 14 lakh crore from tourism which is approximately 9% Gross Domestic Product of year 2016. As India is geographically rich country.
In the north it has Himalayan series and great greenery in northeast, good amount of plains and large enough coastal line. Also India has good amount of blue sea beaches to attract the tourists. In north-east seven sisters are the beautiful evergreen places and are at high altitudes also.
In west Gujarat and Rajasthan are the beautiful desert places. India in itself is the shelter to too many cultures and that’s how it became a colorful place to visit.
India ranked 40th out of 136 countries as the travel and tourism competitiveness report of 2017 says. It mentioned that India has good air connectivity to other countries and ranked 30th in that.
Ministry of tourism makes policies for the promotion and development of tourism over the country.Incredible India is a campaign maintained by government.
Tourism and travel is largest service business in India. It provides cultural, heritage, medical, sports and business tourism. The main objective of this sector is to maintain competitiveness in world of India as a dream destination.
Visa Policy in India
India demands that citizens of most countries should have a valid passport and have applied for a visa before coming here. They can apply directly for a visa through embassy or through local travel agencies.
For increasing the tourism and reducing black marketing India introduced an online method in order to apply visa for almost 40 countries. It is mentioned that citizens of Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan do not require any kind of visa.
Challenges
Now a days, Crime and security issues especially against women, still are the major challenge that stuck to the reputation of tourism industry. It considered unsafe for a women to travel in country widely and some places are worst nightmares (rape and harassment).
In some places women are being murdered. Several reports of foreign ladies being harassed, raped then murdered, this caught world’s attention and created a negative impact of India. Japan and China have publicly issued warnings for the travelling in India, not even in groups unless it is necessary.
By looking at the seriousness of the situation, India’s tourist minister gave advice to the women tourists, not to wear skirts in public places in small towns. So further an open letter has been given to the minister telling the government to work on the safety of tourists instead of blaming the victims.
Now some best tourist places in India state wise
- Andaman and Nicobar islands
In these islands tourism is major source of economy. If we compare the tourist traffic was doubled in 2012 than 2008-2009. Andaman has 570 tropical islands and out of these 37 are inhabited.
Radhasagar beach given the title of Asia’s best beach in 2004 situated at Havelock Island and also has 7th place in the list of best beaches in the world. The capital port Blair has only active volcano in south Asia.
- Andhra Pradesh
This state has emerged to be most preferred visiting place in India of domestic visitors. It has temples, beaches, scenic hills and forests. Some major places are listed below.
Tirumala Tirupati, kanaka Durga temple, Kodandarama temple, Hindu temples of lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman temple at ponnur, Ainavilli.
Declining of Tourism
Tourism in many countries has to suffer from different issue which ultimately impacts its economy growth. Initially it was outbreak of H1N1 influenza virus which was around 2009. It affected Indian tourism also because due to virus travelling from many countries gradually decreased.
Recently swine flu occurred which again decreased the tourism as our national capital was directly affected by the citizens coming from other countries for their treatment.
India is a kind of kaleidoscope which is full of culture, traditions and vibrant geographies. India speaks for its own soul stirring journey.
From the snowy Himalayas to the rainy North east, India contains natural greenery which holds your breathe. Cultural shades and raw beauty captures visitor’s heart and soul. Every visitor will get something for its own satisfaction as India is full of different culture, traditions.
