Essay on The Struggle is Real

March 7, 2018 by Sneha Rochani Leave a Comment

Struggle in a common man’s language can be defined as inconvenience caused, the hardships on the path of a person.

Struggle is the discomfort in one’s life that is often perceived as negative. What we don’t realize is struggle is an integral part of all our lives.

Struggle is in fact the pushing force in life, which keeps the life moving forward. People work towards betterment, constantly trying to improve themselves because they have to face certain struggle to reach their goal.

No struggle is big or small, it is just a matter of perception. The person going through the struggle always thinks of his struggle to be the worst.

The poor struggles to get food enough to even satiate his hunger, whereas the owners of storehouse of grains struggle to keep that food source free from pests.

The orphan struggles to survive without his parents, whereas some kid somewhere might be finding it tough to stay with his always-fighting parents. Nobody’s life is free of struggles.

Had life been struggle free, the development of the society would have come to a stop. People when struggling in lives try to come up with creative and innovative ideas to save themselves, this often leads to development.

Let’s consider the Stone Age men for example, if they had not faced the struggle of carrying their wood and stones from one place to another, the invention of wheel would not have happened.

Similarly, invention of light bulb was a way of escaping the inconvenience caused by not being able to work after the sunset hours, full utilization of human efforts was being hindered.

Just like the saying goes, ’No Pain, No Gain’, which implies that if a person wants to be truly successful in life, he has to undergo some hardships, some struggles.

Let us take a piece of coal for example, it gets converted into a diamond only when it endures all the heat and pressure it is put through, if suppose it breaks in the course of the process, it is reduced to mere ashes.

Same applies to humans as individuals and as teams, we are constantly being put through different challenges and it is only these challenges that either make us or break us.

Sometimes, we have all the resources and preparations done to face these challenges. We are informed well in advance that we have to face certain challenges, if we are able to pass those we would move up a level in our lives.

Take for example, the challenge of exams in schools and colleges, the students are aware from the very beginning that whatever they study, they’d have to give a test for it someday.

They have ample of time in their hands to prepare themselves and ace the exams. But this is not how life works always. Most of the challenges we face come unannounced.

Life is uncertain and its uncertainty is portrayed best in this form.

Having to deal with sudden tragedies like a death in a family, or a natural disaster like an earthquake or landslide, or being robbed off all your money and valuables, these are some of the examples of sudden struggles about which we can always maintain some precautions but never be completely prepared.

The strongest trees in a forest are not the ones that are always protected. They are the ones which must struggle against the elements of nature and other trees and overcome them against the odds to survive.

In times of hardships like storms and strong winds, the strongest trees survive and the once living in the illusion of being highly protected are the first ones to fall.

Same pattern is seen in drivers, smooth roads don’t make drivers as skilled as the rocky road does. When a person struggles in a similar way, against all odds, the human spirit is toughened.

Most people will try and go through life by following the path of the least resistance, wanting to be protected along the way.

What they fail to realize is, without the strength of character which one gains from struggle, they could be tempted to flow through their life with very little purpose or any real plans.

Therefore, struggles should be accepted for what they truly are, a golden opportunity for a successful life. Struggle forces you to move else you would stand still.

It leads to realization of the fact that your success comes only through struggles in life. Nothing worthwhile is ever achieved in life without first experiencing a struggle.

If success was so easy, everyone would be able to do it. For some people even getting out of their beds and getting ready to face the world is a big struggle.

Being able to do that might look like something very normal to the world, but for them even that is a big step of success.

Whenever you meet a successful person, you’ll meet a person who has struggled in their life and has overcome it.

Life is a struggle and the reward one gets from meeting your difficulties head on, no matter how hard it seems at the moment.

To achieve all that you want to, you must learn to embrace any difficulties that come your way and face them whole heartedly instead of running away from them.

The road to a happy and successful life will always be filled with struggles.
