The snake charmer carries snakes in a basket. He goes from place to place, showing snakes and playing different kinds of tricks. He has a pipe on which he plays music to make the snake dance. Snake charmers are seen almost in all parts of India.
Generally, they wear colourful clothes some snake charmers also wear big ear-rings. Yesterday, when I was going to the market for shopping, I saw a snake charmer sitting near a park. People were standing around him in a circle.
I too rushed towards the park and stood to watch the snake dance. At the first the snake charmer showed a big cobra. When he started playing music with his pipe, the snake raised its hood to the tune of the pipe.
Next he showed many other snakes. Some of them were very long and some seemed very poisonous. They were hissing and moving their tongues in and out. They seemed angry too. The tongue of a snake looks like a fork.
A small snake crept about quietly and the children ran away in fear.
The most interesting sight was the fight between a cobra and a mongoose. The mongoose ran after the snake to catch it.
The snake looked very angry and it crawled here and there top terrorize and the attacker. People watched the fight with great interest.
After the show, the snake charmer spread a sheet of cloth on the ground and asked for money. People threw coins of twenty-five paise and even one rupee on the sheet.
THE JOB of a snake is very dangerous creatures. Some of them are very poisonous. It is not easy to catch and train them for shows.
