What is the Pre Matric Scholarship?

The Ministry of Minority, Government of India, organizes Pre-Matric Scholarship 2022. It is a financial aid provided by the government to uplift the unprivileged sections of the society. The Government of India has taken great initiative to help deserving students of the country with the scholarship facility through the Pre-Matric scholarship scheme. The main goal of the scholarship is to encourage parents of minority section to send their kids to school by helping them to fund the school education of their children. It’s conducted every year for the welfare of SC/ ST/ OBC students and to provide them hassle-free education facilities.

The pre-matric scholarship is classified into two categories.

  1. Halfway supported
  2. State-Financed.

The Halfway subsidized financial aid is appropriate for understudies across the country. Also, the State-Financed financial aid focuses on understudies of the particular state.

 Who can apply for Pre-Matric Scholarship?

  • The candidate must be studying from classes 1 to 10.
  • The applicant must have received at least 50% marks in the last final examination.
  • Candidate must have a family income of not more than ₹ 1 lakh p.a.
  • Applicant must be from a minority community (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis)

Pre Matric Scholarship Eligibility criteria

The pre-Matric scholarship is awarded to only those candidates who have scored not less than 50% marks in their last final examination, and the annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed ₹ 1 Lakh.

  • A student belonging to the minority section (SC/ST/OBC) is only eligible for the Pre-Matric scholarship.
  • The scholarship will be available to the student studying in Classes I to X.
  • An Income Certificate issued by State/Central Governments is required in case of the parent or guardian of the student.
  • The renewal process is subject to securing 50% marks in the last years’ examination.
  • The maximum no. of a candidate who can apply for the scholarship from a family should not be more than two students from a family.

Pre Matric Scholarship Rewards and Benefits

₹ 350 p.a. will be paid as tuition fees by students of class 6 – 10.
₹ 600 p.m. will be paid by those who are availing hostel facilities.
₹ 100 p.m. will be paid as maintenance charges.
Pre-Matric Scholarship for Candidates With Disabilities ₹ 500 p.m. will be paid by day scholars as maintenance.
₹ 800 p.m. will be paid by hostelers are maintenance.
Annual Disability payment ranges from ₹1000 p.a. up to ₹4000 p.a.
Financial assistance for educating the children of BEEDI/CINE/LSDM/IOMC Workers
(Pre-Matric)
₹ 250 will be given to students from classes
1 – 5 to buy books/clothes.

  • In the case of Minorities: Apply between August and October by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
  • In the case of a student with a disability: Apply between August and October by the Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities.
  • In the case of Financial Assistance for Educating the Children of Beedi/CINE/LSDM/IOMC Workers: Apply between August and October by the Ministry of Labour and Empowerment.

Delhi Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of SC/SC/OBC (CLASS 9 – 10): Apply between December and February by the Welfare of ST/SC/OBC, Government of NCT, Delhi.

Assam Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of ST students (CLASS 1-8): Apply between November and January by the Department of Backward Classes, Govt. of Assam.

In the case of ST students (CLASSES 9 -10): Apply between November and January by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

In the case of OBC students: Apply between November and January by the Ministry of Empowerment and Social Justice.

Maharashtra Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of Unclear Occupation/VJNT/SBC/SC/Disabled: Apply between November and January by the Special Assistance and Social Justice Department, Govt. of Maharashtra.

Andhra Pradesh Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of Minorities: Can be applied always by the Andra Pradesh State Minorities Finance Corporation Ltd. (APSMFC)

Telangana Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of SC/ST/OBC/Disabled: Can be applied always by the Government of Telangana.

Tripura Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of ST: Apply between October and December by the Government of Tripura.

Uttarakhand Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of Minority: Apply between November and December by the Uttarakhand Minorities Commission.

In the case of SC/ST/OBC: Apply between November and December by the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Uttarakhand.

Arunachal Pradesh Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of Minority: Apply between November and December by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

Manipur Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of SC/OBC: Apply between September and October by the Welfare of Other Backward Classes and SCs, Govt. of Manipur.

Uttar Pradesh Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of Minorities: Apply between July and September by the Minority Department, Govt. of UP.

In the case of SC/ST/OBC/General Category: Apply between July and September by the Social Welfare Department, Govt. of UP.

Nagaland Pre Matric Scholarship

In the case of ST (CLASS 9 – 10): Apply between May and June by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland.

 Documents required for Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • Domicile certificate
  • Attested copy of the community certificate.
  • Attested copies of disability certificate, if any.
  • The first page of the bank passbook has bank name, branch name, account holder name, IFSC code, and MICR code.
  • Scanned copy of school/college mark sheet and certificates.
  • Income certificate of candidates’ parents.

Pre-Matric Scholarship Application – How to apply online?

  • See the homepage of the National Scholarship Portal – www.scholarships.gov.in.
  • Search for New Registration and Click on it.
  • Select the undertaking and Continue.
  • Fill up all important details regarding personal information, contact information, academic details, and other requisite details.
  • Give the bank details such as bank name, branch name, account holder name, IFSC code, and MICR code.
  • Provide details regarding the identification of the candidate; provide any identity card, which must be issued by State/Central Government.
  • Verification of mobile no. will be done, and an OTP will be generated.
  • Log in using the OTP and fill the form.
  • An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references.

Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority

  • Candidate must be Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, And Parsis.
  • Candidate of classes 1 – 10 can apply.
  • The minimum marks required by the candidate must be 50%.
  • The annual earning of the family must be below Rs 1 Lakh.

Andhra Pradesh Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority

  • The candidate must be from the lower segment of the minority community.
  • Candidates of classes 6 – 10 can apply.
  • The minimum attendance required is 75%.

Uttarakhand Pre-Matric Scholarship (100 % Sector State) for minority

  • Candidate must belong to Uttarakhand.
  • Candidate of classes 1 – 10 can apply.
  • Must be Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, and Parsis.
  • The annual income must be less than twice the present revenue sheet below the poverty line.

Uttar Pradesh Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minority

Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Candidates

I. CLASS (9 – 10)

  • Candidates must study in a government-recognized school in class 9 – 10.
  • The candidate must be an Assam State Permanent Resident.
  • The annual income of the family must be below Rs 2 Lakh.

II. CLASS (1 – 8)

  • Candidates must study in a government-recognized school in class 9 – 10.
  • The candidate must be an Assam State Permanent Resident.
  • The annual income of the family must be below Rs 50,000.

Tripura Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • The candidate must be the domicile of Tripura.
  • Candidates must study in a recognized school in class 9 – 10.
  • The annual income of the family must be below Rs 2 Lakhs.

Uttarakhand Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Candidates

  • Uttarakhand state-based candidates can only enroll.
  • Candidates must be enrolled in classes from 1 – 10.
  • The previous examination must be completed.
