What is the Ashirwad Scholarship?

The Government of Punjab, India, organizes Ashirwad Scholarship 2020-21. Punjab Government has come up with a great initiative to help deserving students of the state through the Ashirwad scholarship scheme. Its’s application is opened every year in September for the welfare of SSC/ ST/ OBC candidates and to provide them hassle-free education facilities.

This is the Post-matric scholarship provided for the unprivileged candidates who are taking the courses of UG/ PG in the state of Punjab. This scholarship is financial aid to the unprivileged students to assist them in proceeding with their education. 

Another distinctive aspect of the scholarship is that 40% of the total seats are reserved for women. Students should read the article carefully to know the important dates, criteria, eligibility, etc.

Who can apply for Ashirwad Scholarship?

The applicants (SC/ST/OBC) pursuing post-matriculation, graduation, and post-graduation are eligible for the scholarship. They must be the natives of Punjab. This scholarship is mainly focused to uplift students belonging to the SC/ST and OBC communities.

Ashirwad Scholarship Eligibility

  • Indian Nationals belonging to the SC/ST/OBC category of Punjab.
  • Applicants must have passed class 10th from Government/Private or any other recognized University or Board of Secondary Education of Punjab.
  • The applicant’s minimum age must be 17 years.
  • The annual family income of SC/ST applicants should be less than 2.5 lakhs.
  • The annual family income of OBC applicants should be less than one lakh.
  • Applicants pursuing distance courses/open education/correspondence courses are also eligible and can apply for this scheme.
  • Applicants who are pursuing postgraduate in medicine can’t apply for this scheme.
  • Applicants who are already having other scholarship schemes/grant systems/ aids from the government are not eligible to apply for this scheme.

Ashirwad Scholarship Benefits

  • Education Funds: The candidates will be provided with funds for

Post-matriculation studies irrespective of streams.

  • Applicant Eligibility: The officials will verify the eligibility and per annum income of the family.
  • Fees: Payment of tuition, magazine, library, medical examination, etc. will be made to the student.
  • Hassel-free process: The application is online. Hence, the applicant won’t face any problems/issues.
  • Study Tours: Payment of Study Tour up to the amount of Rs. 900 p.a. to OBC and Rs. 1600 p.a. for SC/ST students studying technical and professional courses will be paid. 
  • Thesis typing and printing charges: Thesis typing and printing charge up to the amount of Rs. Officials will pay 1000 p.a. for OBC candidates and amount of RS 1600 p.a. for SC/ST candidates.

Ashirwad Scholarship Last Date

The applications are uploaded online in September, i.e., usually in mid-September every year. The application will be available at www.punjabscholarships.gov.in. Also, the last date of application submission is often the second week of October 2020.

  • Scanned copy of candidates’ recent passport size photograph.
  • Scanned copy of school/college mark sheet and certificates.
  • Income certificate of candidates’ parents.
  • Affidavit in case of any individual income.
  • Attested copy of the caste certificate.
  • Residential proof of the candidate (electricity bill, water bill, ration card, voter id, Aadhaar card, pan card, or driving license.)
  • Attested copies of disability certificate, if any.
  • Page one of bank passbook having bank name, branch name, account holder name, IFSC code, and MICR code.

Ashirwad Scholarship Renewal

Ashirwad Scholarship must be renewed every year. The attendance of the candidates must be at least 75% to be eligible for the scholarship.
