Role of Youth in Nation Building | Essay | Download PDF

December 15, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

Well, the role of youth in nation building is a very important question to answer. It is necessary to know if we are actually free. Are we really independent or still struggling for the real independence? Yes, it is very true that we got freedom on 15  August, 1947.

But it was the political freedom that we got. It was the freedom of all the individuals of the nation. It was just a political freedom. We are still in the search of freedom. The role of youth is very important in achieving the freedom that we desire for.

The upcoming generation and the present rising generation, both are important. It is the youth of today who are educated. They have the power of knowledge. They are able to understand the problem of society. They can bring the change. They very well know what should be adopted.

They very well know what should be rejected. They are ruling power of this generation. There are various practices prevalent in the society. They are all not correct. There are religious practices. People follow them blindly. These are the production of older generation. They have made it and have now become the dogma.

There are certain beliefs followed by people that are illogical. They don’t have any logical reason to it. They are what we call superstitious beliefs. The people of the early era were not educated. At the time of independence also more than half of the population was illiterate.

These practices have been followed since ages. It was from the time when people were not educated. There was not any discovery of science. People at that time created caste system. They created religion system. They created followers for themselves.

They made norms and rules to be followed by the pupils. They made everything out of faith and their own understanding. They did not have any logical reason to it.

The major issue for the youth to be helpful is that they are educated. They know what is right and what is wrong. They know that why things are done. They know why certain phenomenon takes place. They are literate. They have the power of logic and reasoning.

We can take a very common example of religious belief. The occurrence of eclipse. People treat it as something which is climatic in its nature. They treat it as something beyond the understanding. Whereas, the youth of today know why it takes place. It is a general natural phenomenon.

It is not a sign of destruction. It is a usual process that takes place in the solar system. But it has become a topic of great concern. During this period people are restricted to go out. They are not allowed to eat anything during the phase of eclipse.

They are not allowed to take bath. These are the things that people do during an eclipse. These are all due to the lack of proper education. Today the youth know that it will not do any harm to them if they eat anything. They know nothing is going to happen if they take bath. This is the difference that education makes. It forces us to know the reason behind the things.

Education enables us to find the reason behind certain things. In India the inter-caste marriages are considered as taboo. It is still not accepted in many parts of India. People belonging to certain caste want the marriage to take place between their castes itself.

There is no harm if the marriage takes place between different castes. But the mindset of people is such that they would not accept it. They are not educated. Again the lack of education creates problem. Youth of today know that if inter-caste marriage takes place then it would do no harm.

But because of the influence of the religion they are not allowed. People should search for the reason. They should not simply accept it. This is where the nation lacks behind. This is where evil practices take place. Nobody is able to question it. It withdraws our nation backward.

Youth are educated. They are well aware of all the things happening around them. They know which politician to vote to. The politicians are very smart. They make use of the caste and religion to get the votes. They play with the sentiments and emotions of the people. The people get influenced because they are not educated. They believe whatever is told to them.

They play the card of social structure. They very well know how to trap people. The politician does not want the people to stay together. They don’t want people to rise above the social ladder. This social discrimination keeps them in power. This lack of knowledge gives them advantage.

There is no harm in living together. There is no harm in unity. Unity is strength. One can never achieve the freedom or development if they are scattered. Youth have the understanding of all these things. They know that being together would give strength.

It has all come through the education. There are various people in the slums or below the poverty line who are uneducated. It would create a big hindrance for the development of the nation. They should be given proper education. They are the upcoming generation. They are the future of the coming India. They should be taken care of.

The youth are energetic. The youth are well educated. They know the difference between what is superstitious and what is to be followed. They just do not blindly accept the things. They look for facts and reasons. This is what is required for the development of the nation.

They are the builders of our nation. They are the one who would help India to develop. The strength of education is the strength of development. Every-body should be given proper education. India is a diverse nation hence it gets difficult to maintain unity. The only way to bind people together is through education. The youth of today can do this.
