National Youth Day Speech (400 words)

Respected dignitaries on stage, our beloved principal, staff and my dear friends, today I am going to present a speech on national youth day and its importance in our country.

As we all know that our country was ruled by the British for almost two centuries and the horrified images of the freedom struggle come back in front of us when we read them in books and chronicles.

Achieving freedom at midnight was not as easy task. The struggle for freedom was a long overdue movement. It involved the participation and contribution of great leaders from all spheres of life, from all walks of life that we know.

These leaders were significant in bringing about awareness among the public, among the common man. One such leader who brought about this awakening, not just at the national level, but rose to international fame because of his ideologies and thinking was Swami Vivekananda.

On his birth anniversary, that is, every day on the 12th of January we celebrate the national youth day. Swami Vivekananda was a man of principles. From his childhood he was very determined, he showed great ambition and was thoroughly dedicated in the tasks that he did.

His accomplishments in life were huge. The speech he delivered at Chicago is world famous even today, people remember him on account of this historic speech that he gave to ignite many young minds. His critical thinking level was so high that he did not bow down from his ideologies even in the worst times of his life.

He inspired the youth of the country to choose their paths with dedication and determination. He made them realize their dreams.

On this auspicious day, let us all mark our respects to Swami Vivekananda for delivering excellence in all his works, both at the national and the international level .there were many historic gems that brought pride to our nation on international shores.

We remember our heroes for their great works and contributions and history is proof of the exemplary works they did to gather people and bring them to a common understanding regarding values of freedom, independence and most importantly, nationalism and cultural pride.

The intellectual powers of this great leaders and his vast knowledge were above any visible powers of the British and there was nothing they could do to outwit this saint from his chosen path. He proved to the nation that ambition, backed with dedication and determination are the only sure shot routes to success.

National Youth Day 2018 Theme

The theme of the year 2018 was ‘Sankalp se Siddhi”. When we translate these words in English, they mean we can achieve success in life only with determination. Swami Vivekananda always stressed the importance of having ambition in our dreams, especially for the youth. Success is short lived.

Our grit and determination lives long. The youth of today have fire in their minds, they have the quest for knowledge, and they have the fire in their minds to achieve greater heights in life. But to conquer upper spaces, we need to put these ideologies into action.

The national youth day of 2018 stressed on these ideologies of grit, determination and vigor and to bring them in our tasks to achieve the required dream we dreamt of.

National Youth Day Quotes

  • “The youth is like an untapped resource in the country. It needs awakening and proper directions”.
  • “Youth day is a day to celebrate the ideologies set forward by Swami Vivekananda”.
  • “Rise every time you fall, only when you fall can you rise beyond expectations”.
  • “Have dreams in life; turn them into reality with your ambitions”.
  • “Dedication and determination are the true pillars of success”.

National Youth Day Slogans

  • “Follow Swami Vivekananda’s words for achieving excellence in life”.

  • “National youth day is not just about celebration, it is a day of taking a pledge to work for our nation”.
  • “The youth should learn from the writings and anecdotes of Swami Vivekananda, they are blissful”.

Why we celebrate National Youth Day?

The modern technology has given access to the youth of today to the most advanced forms of information and knowledge. But the right usage and interpretation is mostly not taking place. People exploit freedom for all the wrong reasons. People do not realize the values of nation building.

The youth are misguided by notions that they have left the country in the hands of politicians, so they can rest peacefully. But his is not the case; every individual needs to think selflessly like Swami Vivekananda to bring about a change.

For example, corruption is a burning issue on our country. If each of us can help in our own small ways to go against the practice of corruption, we can definitely see a transformation. These values and ideologies, the awareness about them are created in National youth day.

Importance and Significance of National Youth Day

  • The messages of Swami Vivekananda are a great inspiration to the youth. They help in the growth and development of our country.
  • For a country to have global presence it needs to have cordial relationships with its neighbors in the global space, these words of knowledge were enlightened by none other than Swami Vivekananda himself.
  • Performances of politicians and public responsibilities have to be realized by leaders ruling the nation. National youth day provides the required directions in this regard.

Conclusion

The idea of celebrating national youth day is to bring people closer to each other. If we, the citizens of a country start fighting amongst ourselves, then our strengths are weakened and they would be exploited by external forces for their selfish gains.

Instead, if we come together as a nation and inspire the youth of our country to think better and perform better and reach success, then our country would lead the paths of change and see a big transformation in the global space.

National youth day aims to achieve these ideals by following the principles and ideologies of swami Vivekananda.
