Article on Indian Heritage

December 2, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

First let us know about the heritage of India. Heritage refers to something which belongs to a nation. It is a kind of treasure of the old age. These are in the forms of scriptures. These are in the form of monuments. These are in the form of cave paintings.

All these historical pieces of art are the heritage of India. We had different rulers ruling in the past. The rulers who were in love with art and architecture had built various monuments beautiful in appearance. Our heritage is very rich and diverse.  These heritages are preserved for the future generation so that they can know about the richness of our nation.

Heritages are in various forms. Starting with the very first civilization it was known as Indus valley civilization. It is said to have the settings of house in a very systematic manner.

The remains of the civilization enabled us to know about them. They had proper drainage system and blocks of houses. Different sites were also spotted like bathing places. These indicate the richness of civilization at that point of time. There were paintings caved on the walls. This all lead to the realization of these civilizations.

Our heritage is so rich because of the diversity of the rulers. The Mughals ruled pour country. The Rajput’s ruled our country. There were great Mughal rulers such as Akbar and Shah Jahan. Akbar had so much of interest in art. In his court there were Navratnas.

He was a great ruler of his time. The Mughals prospered to a great extent during his reign. In his kingdom there was unity among Hindus and Muslims. He respected both of the religions. The palace where he lived is still there. It is a very beautiful and attractive tourist spot.

Akbar lived in a palace in Fatehpur Sikri. There in the entrance of the palace there is a Buland Darwaza which is very great in height. There are individual palaces within that palace for each of the main queens. The major queens were Rokaiya Begum, Jodha Bai.

He had a palace separately for him through which the entire palace could be seen. This was the beauty of the architecture designed. He was married to Hindu wife Jodha Bai. Later on they shifted to Agra because of the lack of water in Fatehpur Sikri. In Agra there is Agra fort which is gigantic and very attractive.

We have one of the seven wonders of the world in our country. People from all over the world pay a visit to this beautiful piece of art. It is Taj Mahal. This monument is built entirely of white marbles. This was made during the reign of Shah Jahan. He loved his wife Mumtaz Mahal so much.

He wanted to bury her body in the Taj Mahal. It took 20 years for the monument to be completed. Shah Jahan was very much fond of white marbles hence the construction was done in white marble. It a very beautiful piece of art. The Taj Mahal is nothing but a beautiful grave.

He proved his love in the entire world. Later on he himself was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb and the hands of the workers involved in the construction of this monument were cut so that nobody could make a replica of it.

These were the Mughal architects of our country. We have several other monuments also. The Charminar of Hyderabad is also a very famous tourist spot. People come to see that monument. Then we have Ajanta and Ellora caves. These caves are in Maharashtra.

It is a very famous tourist spot. It has in its caves the scriptures caved on it.  Not only these monuments comprises of the heritage. Heritage has got a very deeper meaning to it. It is something that we inherit from our past. It is something that we inherit from our fore-fathers and ancestor.

The land and people both are the major components of heritage. They both comprise the heritage. In our country we have diversity in people. There are people belonging to different caste. There are people belonging to different race. There are people belonging to different ethnic groups. These all groups combine as one and give the heritage of our country.

The culture of India has been changing from time to time. It has never been constant. It has be inter mixing and inter mingling. During the older times there was lot of migrations taking place. People from different areas used to come to India. People from India used to travel to other place.

This resulted in the emergence of intermingling of culture and traditions. The religion of Buddhism and Jainism both emerged due to the inter mixing. It was not the concept if our country. We have the Bodh Gaya tree where Gautam Buddha got the enlightenment. It is very famous tourist spot. People from different countries like Nepal and Sri-Lanka come everywhere to see that.

There was spreading of bhakti movement in India. It was initiated by Kabir and Nanak. It was spread with a message for the masses. At that point of time there was so much discrimination in the society on the basis of caste and religion. They wanted to spread the message of equality and brother-hood.

They should look down at each other because of their status in the society. They were against the narrow mindset of the people. They were against the strict protocol membership of the monasteries. They were against the threatening of people on the name of religion and establishing power.

These were of the early era. Every time heritage was related to nation and the people combined together. They both are one. They both are not the separate entities. The nationalist movement which took place when British ruled our country also united people.

The unity was the major concern in order to gain freedom. Without the realization of unity Indians could never have achieved the freedom. It was the time when we came up with the slogan of unity is strength.
