Importance of Physical Education | Short Essay

All work and no play makes Jack, a dull boy. This is one of the most famous quotes that we have been hearing since our childhood. But, how many of us actually understand the message hidden behind this quote? The message is highly essential when it comes to understand and live life in its entirety.

The message is that of physical fitness. Amidst the stressful world that we are living, stress management is very necessary. The subject of Physical education in schools in one such initiative which allows students to know about the importance of physical well being in life.

It is believed that school is the place wherein children imbibe all the values which help them in becoming better individuals in future. Knowing about one’s physical fitness is also one of the major values that require proper attention.

Introduction of Physical Education in schools comprise both theoretical and practical approach towards learning about personal well being. On a deeper level, an important thing to understand is that when it comes to the body, the mind cannot be left behind and the system of body regulation cannot be understood in isolation.

The mind and the body together contribute to our existence. That is why, if the body is taken care of, the mind automatically function in the best possible manner. The physical, the mental and the psychological insinuations are interrelated and the first step for an overall well being comprising these levels starts with remaining healthy physically.

Physical Education as a subject helps the students to know their own selves through their bodies and remain comfortable with it. Here, it is important to keep one thing in mind. Our body and our posture define the kind of personality we possess.

The outside world always welcomes people who have a certain kind of personality which includes posture predominantly. The amount of confidence one has, the kind of bodily movements, one makes and the kind of expressions one carries, form an essential part of the personality.

Physical Education helps student to become confident about themselves both the physical and mental levels. Absence of a proper personality is not at all welcomed in the current scenario. In the current situation wherein there is a lot of competition in all the fields, creating an aura about oneself is the first parameter on which a candidate is judged.

It is said that the first impression is the last impression. It is applicable when it comes to be successful in the professional world wherein the basic qualification is to be presentable. This can only be achieved when one knows about one’s self before knowing the world.

Another important aspect of this subject is that it teaches about remaining healthy through exercises. Physical Education definitely comprises the inclusion of exercises and games which keeps one active on the outward and inward fronts. When the body remains active, the blood circulation remains steady.

This, in turn, helps in making the heart and brain function properly. The body gets the space to breathe in and out. Hence, the brain remains active keeping the person full of vibrancy and optimism. Lethargy makes people inactive, thereby exposing them to lot of ailments and diseases.

This eventually makes one low on confidence and pessimism shrouds itself on such people. Remaining physically fit is not just for the body regulation, but also enhances one’s emotional and mental growth. That is why, whenever one is a patient of depression, the first and foremost therapy is on the physical level.

Such people are asked to exercise on a daily basis and play a lot of outdoor games. And these techniques really help as blood circulation remains rapid. Depression is a kind of emotional stasis in which the concerned person secludes oneself from the social world and remains indoors. This prevents her/him from physical movement.

Physical education is highly essential to know about a healthy lifestyle. At the school level, the brain of the students is just like wax which can be moulded in any manner. It is because at that time mind imbibes everything quickly and body gets habituated quickly.

If they are given such a platform wherein they learn about how the importance of physical well being is interlinked with a healthy mind and a beautiful soul, then they will be aware as to how they will have to lead their life. Prevention is always better than cure.

The inclusion of physical education in the curriculum is the best kind of prevention against all kinds of physical, mental and psychological crisis in future. Not only this, they becomes well informed individuals who can guide the people around them as well. Knowledge is a kind of chain which is never ending and knowledge regarding tackling with the struggles in life is really important.

In the current scenario, when most of the people are facing various kinds of health issues, physical education acts as a boon. Once the body is in control, the mind and heart become stronger and one always remains confident about oneself. Human body is the shield which enables one to fight through life. That is why, it is mandatory to protect this shield in the best possible manner.

Without this, existence isn’t possible and any kind of aberration in its working hinders the overall growth be it economical, professional or social front. When one is ill or for that matter unwell, one becomes an escapist as there is a lack of confidence in them.

The best way to prevent all such problems to know educate oneself regarding physical well being and the subject of physical education is one such platform which is enabling young minds to understand and imbibe the importance of physical fitness both through theory and praxis.

Therefore, the schools incorporate such a subject for overall development of their students. Excelling in the academic front is necessary. However, it involves mental and cognitive abilities which can only be enhanced and improved through proper health and by remaining physically fit.

The road to success consists of both body and mind. There will be no point in being good in academics if one is not confident about one’s self. Getting grades in the exam and facing the world outside has a lot of difference. The combination of both is what makes an individual successful.

Jack should never be dull and should indulge in all kinds of physical exercises and games in order to become smart, intelligent and an all rounder per say. The competitive society is too demanding. In order to fit in and not feel misplaced, the education system involving both physical and mental well being is the best one for young minds to get nourished.
