Introduction:
Trees are the most precious divine gift to humanity. Like other living beings, trees are also living and perform various life processes. Great Indian Botanist Jagdish Chandra Bose proved that trees and plants are also a living being just like humans. They also perform life processes like respiration, reproduction, excretion, and nutrition. Trees comprise branches, stem, leaves, roots, fruits, etc. Every part of trees is just like in the service of human beings and has its importance. It can be said that trees are our’s, all-weather friend. We see various trees in our surroundings, for example, mango tree, Banyan tree, etc.
Various Importances of trees:
It is a fact beyond any doubt that we trace our existence from the environment and trees & plants are an integral part of the same. It takes part in the various ecological processes and makes lives possible on earth. Nature has been very kind to human being, so the tree does. It provides us various life-supporting services and elements. There are beneficial for humans as well as animals in several ways. They are the source of the existence of life on earth.
There are various benefits of trees some of them are as below:-
Oxygen and air
There are numerous benefits of trees, but the most precious and valuable one is that they provide us oxygen and fresh air, which are the basic need to sustain human life.
Without air and oxygen, we cannot imagine life on earth. There are various planets in the galaxy, but life is possible only on the earth due to the presence of oxygen. Trees take CO2 from the environment and convert it into oxygen through the process of Photosynthesis. In this process, it does not only produces oxygen but also consumes poisonous gas Carbon dioxide and other gases.
Fruits and vegetables
In the very beginning, when we were not civilized enough to make our meal, it was the trees we depend upon for food. Trees give us fruits and vegetables. Several animals, birds, reptiles and other living organism depends upon the foods and vegetables from the trees.
Temperature Regulation
It maintains the temperature of the ecosystem by consuming greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. It keeps weather patterns and reduces global warming. It provides us fresh air.
It also provides shades during the massive heatwave in the summer season.
Reduces Soil Erosion
It reduces soil erosion, which helps in maintaining the adequate groundwater level. In the absence of a tree, the binding property of the soil reduces, and it starts eroding. Consequently, there will be less land available and fewer trees.
Medicinal Property
Apart from this, there are various other benefits we reap from trees and plants, some are biological, and some are material benefits. They provide several medicines for the fightening against various diseases.
Other Material Benefits
Apart from this, there are various other benefits we reap from trees and plants, some are biological, and some are material benefits. At that time, when we did not know how to do farming, we are not civilized. It was the trees we depend upon for food, shelter, for inscription resources, fuel, etc. Still today, several tribes use to live in the forest and rely solely on their day to day needs on the trees.
Trees give us woods, not only as a fuel but, as a timber material. It offers fruit to the human and foods to the animals.
Problem Of Deforestation
Nature has always been very kind to us, but we human beings, due to our utter selfishness, we have stared degrading the most valuable gift of the god ‘trees.’
We started cutting trees to gain more and more material prosperity, but while doing the same, we are disturbing the delicate balance of nature. Deforestation leads to the number of sequential catastrophes. It destroys the habitat of the various organism, which further disrupts the entire food chain.
Deforestation is responsible for soil erosion and lowering the groundwater level.
It also increases the global temperature and disturbs our weather pattern, which affects our agricultural practices consequently.
The amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gas increases day by day due to excessive deforestation, which is also responsible for leading various diseases to the human being.
Several trees have been extinct, or on the verge of extinction due to excessive deforestation, this is also responsible for the destruction of several wild animals and reptiles
If it were not checked immediately, it would be a threat to the existence of entire humanity.
Conclusion:
In nature, everything is interdependent, so we are not only cutting the trees but damaging our roots by ownself. It is the well-known fact that the population of the world has been increasing exponentially so we must have enough space to live, that is why people are bound to cut the trees and expand their towns. Still, as trees are so essential for a living being, we must choose some common way where we can satisfy our needs without damaging nature and trees. We must choose a sustainable development approach so that we can use trees to meet our needs without damaging it much and keeping it safe for the next generation
That is why the importance of trees should not be just an affair of study, but it must be imbibed within us.
Various steps have been taken to check it like, the importance of trees and afforestation has been added to the sustainable development goals(13th) of the United Nations. Still, it is also evident that we are far behind reaching any milestone in this area.
Day by day, trees are in massive amounts. Therefore it is our prime duty to prevent the deforestation of trees and saves them from saving life on earth. Trees are the backbone of life, so if they are not there, living beings will start doing, and earth will become barren. The government should also take specific actions to save treses and guide people to not to cut trees.
