Each year, on 14th November, children celebrate the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was our first Prime Minister. He always enjoyed company of the young.
Pandit Nehru had great love for children. He used to spend his leisure time with them. They also loved him very much and called him ‘Chacha Nehru’.
On his birthday, people gather in large numbers at Shanti Van. They pay homage to the great leader.
Prayers are held for the peace of his soul. We celebrate Children day with great enthusiasm in our school each year. We organize cultural programmes, stage short dramas and sing national songs.
But this year, we decided to celebrate it in a different way. The Head girl and the Head Boy held a meeting with the Principal and teachers.
It was decided that the students would run the school on that day.
The Principal requested the teachers to keep a watch on the students so that discipline was not disturbed. On the 14th November, the students who were acting as Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers and peon dressed themselves accordingly.
When the student who was acting as peon rang the bell, all the students began to move to the morning assembly. At the second bell, all of them came to their respective classes in queue.
The students acting as class teachers entered their respective classes and took attendance. The original staff members were free for the whole day.
All the acting subjects’ teachers took their classes. Other students fully cooperated with them. It was really a great fun.
As usual, the school closed at 1.40 p.m. All the students maintained discipline throughout the day. The Principal and other staff members congratulated the students for their good show
