Bigamy in India | PDF Download | Short Essay

December 18, 2017 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

First let us know about what is marriage. The concept of marriage can be considered as a social phenomenon. According to sociology, the concept of marriage is an institution. Marriage is the union of two people. In India the marriage takes place between the two people belonging to opposite gender.

To even think about other gender is considered to be a taboo. We have basically three categories in our gender. One is the heterosexual. This category is considered to be a normal one. In this category, one has the attraction and feelings for other gender.

The marriage is very much possible between these people. The other category is named as homosexuals. In this category a person develops feelings for the person belonging to the same gender. We have term to this category. The gay term is used for men.

This means that gay are those where men has feelings for men only. The other term used in this category is lesbian. In this a women has feelings for a women only. In this category the people cannot marry each other.

When it to comes to the homosexuals they are not considered to be normal. Since they do not have feelings for the person belonging to the opposite gender they are not accepted by our Indian society. They are not eligible for marriage. In India it is considered as a taboo.

When we look outside India it is very much accepted by the people. They do not eliminate them from the society. They do not consider them as somebody who is not normal. They are very much acceptable. Every individual has their own right. They are free to make their own choice.

They are not bounded by anyone in the society to rely upon. Until and unless something is harmful for the people of the society there should be no problem in accepting it.

The other kind of category is of the eunuchs. The concept of marriage is not possible between them. It is because they are neither male nor female. They have this physical deformity by birth. They are also looked down by others. It should have happen. They are human beings. Just because they are not usual like a complete male or a complete female, they are not supposed to be pushed back.

They are not something to be mocked at. So these were the major three categories wherein people fall and within which marriage is possible.

There is also this system of marriage where the marriages take place between the members of the same family. This is largely seen in Muslim community. They have the marriages done between the cousins. The marriage is possible between anybody except the own biological brother or sister.

Marriage has a much larger meaning to it. In our Indian community marriage is not just an act. The concept of marriage is very pious and sacred. It is something which not only involves the two individuals but also the family. The family of both the individual has a major role in it.

It is a union of two families. For a girl it is a big sacrifice. In a marriage a girl is supposed to leave the house. In a marriage a girl is supposed to leave her family. In a marriage a girl is supposed to add a surname which does belong to her family.

Bigamy in India

In a marriage a girl is supposed to adjust with the altogether new family member. Initially they are complete strangers to her. It is a very difficult phase for a girl.

She has no one other than her husband to rely upon. It is only because of the faith and trust that she has on her husband she leaves her house. It is only that trust that a girl comes out of her comfort zone to settle at some other place.

A true relationship is based on truth. It is mandatory not only in the case of marriage but also in every other relationship. The relation of friendship demands trust. Trust is the key factor. It is the strongest element of any relationship.

It is something that makes a relationship more strong and healthy. If trust is not there then it will ruin everything.  The Lack of trust leads to the problem of infidelity. In the case of marriage there should be trust between a husband and a wife. This is the key factor that will strengthen their bond. It is the key factor that would keep them happy.

Bigamy is something which is very shameful. First let us know about what is bigamy. Bigamy refers to the cheating that is done in a marriage. If a person who is already married to someone, marries again then it is considered as bigamy. When talking about the Muslim community, there men are allowed to have three marriages.

But coming onto the other communities it is not if in these communities a married man marries again then it is wrong. This act is not considered to be a righteous one. A person should think very precisely about being married. The person should agree to everything before getting married.

Generally a marriage done on force leads to such consequences. The entire life of a person is ruined when such thing happens. Marriage is a thing of life-time. It is based on a term period. It is a very big and the most important decision of an individual’s life.

Infidelity is not acceptable in any case. It is morally incorrect. There is no one who has got the right to cheat others. There is no person who has got the right to ruin somebody’s life.  A person should be aware of what does he want in his life. It is not right to betray anyone.

The act of bigamy is a very shameful and disgusting act. There should be strict punishments given to the person who does it. The punishment should be strict so that nobody dares to repeat it again. It should set an example for others that it is not at all acceptable to ruin the life of other’s.
